The quality management system covers the manufacturing of machined products, as well as minor and major assemblies for the aerospace industry.
FMI is also committed to process improvement and lean manufacturing. With the implementation of every new program, we conduct accelerated improvement workshops to guarantee the leanest process is in place.
Our process shows remarkable results. FMI maintains an external quality rating of more than 99%, as measured by our customers and our annual delivery metrics are 99% on time or better.
Root Cause Corrective Action
FMI completes root cause corrective action on any systemic defects using in-depth cause and effect analysis.
We value the safety of our employees above all else and act accordingly to maintain the safety of our workplaces, processes and products. We are personally accountable for our own safety and collectively responsible for the wellbeing of everyone on our team.
To ensure everyone is up to date on workplace best practices and stays safely on task, we employ a full-time safety engineer.
FMI performs basic non-destructive testing such as push-out, Rockwell hardness, conductivity and electrical bond testing, applying a high standard of excellence to every component we produce.
Coordinate Measuring Capabilities
Our quality assurance personnel verify product quality using FaroArms. The FaroArm is a portable coordinate measuring machine (PCMM) that performs 3D inspections, tool certifications, CAD comparison, dimensional analysis, reverse engineering and more.
FMI also has an Ion Faro Laser Tracker. This extremely accurate PCMM enables a member of the quality team to view live read outs, optimize processes and deliver solutions by measuring quickly, simply and precisely. The Laser Tracker optimizes workflow productivity management for large-scale metrology applications including, but not limited to: assembly alignment, part and assembly inspection, machine installation and alignment, and reverse engineering. We record all information in Verifsurf.
FMI has added portable FaroArms to our production areas, equipping machinists to responsibly ensure the quality of their work prior to end item inspections.
First Article Inspection
First article inspections (FAI) utilize cutting edge software from Inspection Xpert. The technology offers an intuitive interface and powerful Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to extract inspection data, reducing or eliminating data entry. Inspection data is imported instantly, easily detecting out-of-tolerance conditions. Inspection Xpert FAI’s can be directly uploaded to a variety of interfaces. This technology provides an efficient and dependable FAI.
FMI integrates the latest technology to maintain a complete list of certified tools, ranging from hand-held generic calipers to precision torque tools. Tool certification, inventory and calibrations are completed in house to maintain accuracy and provide up-to-the minute data.
FMI offers a cost-effective solution to time-consuming and expensive composite repairs. FMI's technicians are authorized by our suppliers and customers to pot and repair discrepant holes on composite structures, as instructed by applicable engineering dispositions.
